An eight-year-old boy barely escaped being trampled to death by a moose Friday in Anchorage. Police say a group of boys were on their way to play basketball near Kendall Loop and Spruce Street when they happened to run into a moose and her two calves. The boys ran as the moose began charging. But Joseph Kihlstadius tripped and fell, leaving him trapped between the moose and a fence.
"We were just walking on that trail and then we were going to go over here, but then I slipped. And then the moose trampled me. And then trampled me again. And then the cops came here and shot the moose," said Kihlstadius.
Luckily, Kihlstadius escaped with just some scrapes and bruises, but the moose was killed. The calves are in the custody of Fish and Game
