BRENTWOOD, N.H. -- A Portsmouth mother accused of hosting an underage drinking party and having sex with a teenager at the party was found not guilty Wednesday.
A jury found Peggy Bick not guilty of four charges accusing her of providing alcohol to two minors and having sex with one of them.
Bick said that the past year has been difficult for her and her family as she listened to testimony that she knew wasn't true.
"I have an autistic child. It's been killing him," she said. "He gets tormented every day in school for this situation. My fiance and I are expecting a little girl in four months, and I was afraid I would be having her in jail."
Bick's attorney, John Durkin, said that he believes the state's case fell apart when the witnesses had inconsistent stories.
"There were two eyewitnesses to this alleged event," Durkin said. "These two eyewitnesses were unable to get their stories straight on any really important detail."
The foreman of the jury declined to comment after the trial.
