Putnam Police Make Largest Search And Seizure Raid Of '07

Police: Illegal Drugs, Thousands Of Dollars In Cash Recovered



PUTNAM, Conn. -- Police executed a search and seizure Friday on a house at 24 Frank St. in Putnam, Conn. at about 11:15 p.m.

Police said 10 arrests were made. They said they also seized a substantial amount of illegal drugs, contraband, and packaging materials, as well as several thousand dollars in cash.

The seizure is said to be on of the largest that the Putnam Police Department has made in 2007, and the search included one branch of ongoing undercover operation, which has been active for several months, police said. They said a number of additional arrests are possible.
Brian Cole, 23, who lives at the residence, and Nicole Favreau, 23, who also lives in the home, were arrested and charged with selling marijuana, possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana, operating a drug factory, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to halt possession of alcohol by a minor, police said. They said Favreau was additionally charged with possessing alcohol as a minor.

Cole is currently being held on $50,000 cash bond and will appear in Danielson Court on May 14, police said. They said Favreau was released on a $10,000 bond and will appear in Danielson Superior Court on June 4.

Robert Jones, 22, of 39 Vinna Lane, Brooklyn, Conn.; Brian Picariello, 21, of 10 Irene Ave., Danielson, Conn.; and Rebecca Staplins, 23, of 44 South Chestnut St., Wauregan, Conn. were charged with failure to halt the possession of alcohol by a minor, police said. They were processed and released, police said.

Jessica Gilman, 19, of 10 Irene Ave., Danielson, Conn.; Melissa Parker, 20, of 69 Dugg Hill Road, Woodstock, Conn.; Michael Gross, 20, of 615 Route 169, Woodstock, Conn.; and Travis Davis, 18, of 133 Laconia Ave., Putnam, Conn. were charged with possessing alcohol as a minor, police said. They were also processed and released, police said.

In addition, two juveniles were also arrested for alcohol related charges, police said.

The Putnam Police Department requested that anyone who suspects, or has knowledge of illegal drug activity should call the Putnam Police Crime Tips Hotline at 963-0000.
