WBZ) CAMBRIDGE An Arlington man was arrested this morning at the Alewife MBTA station for allegedly making a bomb threat.

David Toomey, 43, was taken into custody on a subway platform. It's believed Toomey is a librarian in the Cambridge area.

"He allegedly made statements that he had a bomb, and made threats to the train crew," said MBTA Transit Police Lt. Sal Venturelli.

Venturelli said the suspect was carrying a backpack, which was later detonated by the bomb squad. The bag did not contain explosives.

A day care, restaurant and the Alewife Station were evacuated for approximately 90 minutes while police investigated the threat.

Toomey will be charged under the state's anti-terrorism statute for making terrorist threats and disorderly conduct.

Fifty bucks say the liberal librarian losers (aka the LLL) will claim "freedom of speech" or will claim he's trying to make a political point.
