Four Charged In Connection With Home Invasion

Video: Police Say Attack May Have Been Drug-Related

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Police said a teenage woman was hospitalized after three people burst into a Manchester apartment and beat her Tuesday night.

Investigators said that the 18-year-old woman told them that she thought the three people who attacked her in the apartment on Dionne Drive were going to kill her.

Four people were charged in connection with the alleged home invasion -- Bryan Alwardt, Robert Boudreau, Andrea Dunlop and Stephanie Nutter. Police said that they believe Boudreau, Nutter and Dunlop attacked the woman while Alwardt served as a lookout.

"My boyfriend and I were out here, and we heard a lot of commotion and fighting," neighbor Diane Couturier said.

Couturier called police when she heard the noise. Police said that they ran into Alwardt outside the apartment.

"There were people hiding in the bathroom," Sgt. Maureen Tessier said. "(Police) tried to gain entry. They were refused, and they could hear a woman inside calling for help. They were able to gain entry and found the three suspects and the victim. She was bound at the feet. She also had some tape and electrical cords on her wrists."

Police said that the woman pleaded for help and said that the others tried to kill her. Investigators said that her eyes were swollen shut.

Officials said the woman told police she was visiting her boyfriend, Alwardt's roommate, when Boudreau, Nutter and Dunlop burst in and began to attack her. It's unclear where the boyfriend was at the time, police said.

The woman told police that Boudreau held a gun to her head, but police said that report is unsubstantiated. Police said that when they arrived, the woman was dragged into the bathroom where the faucets were turned on. Investigators said they believe the sound was intended to drown out her screams.

The woman was taken to Catholic Medical Center, where she was treated for multiple injuries and a broken rib.

"It was a safe place to live until they came along, and now I don't feel safe," Couturier said. "I have a 12-year-old son, and I can't trust him to walk around the neighborhood without something going on."

Bail was set for the four suspects between $75,000 and $100,000. They were scheduled to return to court later this month.
