A man charged with setting a fire in an occupied building Friday night is believed to have called 911 about 40 minutes later, saying, "Too bad you guys can't catch me. I'm the one that just set that fire on Manchester Street. Yep, now I'll go and I'm going to set a lot more fires tonight, suckers, bye."

In Manchester, NH District Court yesterday, police prosecutor Stephen Reardon said John Keen, 63, who lists the New Horizons shelter as his address, has an extensive criminal history dating back to a 1964 robbery conviction and a conviction for possession of explosives in 1965.

Keen could enter no plea to felony charges of arson and criminal threatening in District Court, so a probable cause hearing was scheduled for May 17.

Bail was set at $50,000.

Court records showed that police dispatch alerted officers about the arson call about 10:45 Friday night and described the caller as having a distinctive voice.

Moments later, when Officer Matthew Winn stopped Keen not far from where the 911 call was made, Kean acknowledged having been at the fire.

Winn, along with officers Carlo Capano and John Breckenridge, noted Keen's unique voice.

Police dispatch played the recording of a threatening call over the radio, and the officers agreed that the voice of the caller and the voice of Keen sounded the same.
