Any Alums/current students/anybody else have any opinions on the Criminal Justice program they offer at Bridgewater State?/how it compares to some other local colleges? Just wanted to see what ppl had to say about it

Posted by: masscopguy

I have heard it is a good program. I believe it is Quinn bill approved. Umass Lowell also gets high marks and they have an online program.

I think unless you are going to go to Northeastern, which has one of the best programs in the country, where you go does mean as much as finishing and it is very good to graduate with honors.

I thnk for the money the state schools are as good as Suffolk and BU. Curry College has an inexpensive program and they are Quinn bill approved. I believe Anna Maria and Western New England College are not approved.

What kind of credentials do you have? How is it you are an expert on seemingly every topic posted on this site?

Posted by: Delta784

It's Quinn Bill approved, and if you're an aspiring cop in Massachusetts, that's all you need to know.

Posted by: KJack815

haha yeah thats right huh, those are the only schools i applied too.

Posted by: masscopguy

Do you have anything to offer about the topic Ace or ae you just going to continue your juvenile posts. I know your GED has gotten you very far.

Posted by: KJack815

What inexpensive program are you talking about as far as Curry? A bachelors in CJ there is about 20g's a year for undergrad tuition, idk as far as the masters. And Anna Maria does qualify for Quinn Bill, but i think your right on western not being there, although i was really only interested in any bsc info

Being a current student there, I can tell you that in the past 3 years the CJ department at Bridgewater State has grown a lot. They are getting more professors who are ex cops or other LE related jobs. The department used to be combined with the Sociology but split a few years ago. Like previous posts have said, it is Quinn Bille approved. Also, you can't beat the tuition costs for state schools, my brother is attending Northeastern in a different major but he will have over $200,000 is loans to payoff, whereas I will only have about $15,000. I like mine better!!

Blueline (or any other bsc students/alum), i heard they offer a 5 yr masters program in CJ? Do you know anything about that

It's a combined Bachelor's/Master's program available to full-time students.

Pardon me for giving you more information that you requested. Since I spent a lot of time last year researching the programs before choosing Suffolk based on its location, I thought I would offer what I found out. I think you will find that per credit hour Curry College is the least expensive private Quin bill approved CJ Masters program in the area.

yeah I am interested in Bridewater State as well, I go to Dean College now and am deciding where I should transfer to after im done. I also would like to know how the CJ program is at Bridgewater.

Mr: Frehley, I know MassCopguy. I know he was with the Middlesex Sheriffs Department for 16 years and worked down here on the Cape with DEA for a summer. He now works full time with the largest radio network in the country.

What are you credentials . What department are you with? Where did you go to college? What academy did you graduate from.

Masscopguy has graduated from three state run academies along with regular in service training and he is 16 credits into a Masters degree.

I looked at your 7 posts and they are mostly attacks on Masscopguy who is well liked on Masscops due to all the jobs he posts. I for one would prefer if you took your negativity elsewhere....

Thanks Denise. That last I heard, Ace Frehly was putting his GED to use as an $11.00 an hour security guard for a third rate contract security company.

Believe it or not, this was a step up for him. There 's an old joke about what is worse than working at MCDonalds? Loving your job at McDonalds. Let me tell you, Mr. Frehly loves his job and takes his authority to hand out the restroom keys very seriously. If you don't bring it back right away he is all over you like the same cheep suit from K and G discount he wears to work everyday.

The BSC 5 year CJ program for a combined Bachelor/Master degree is for full-time students. You need to apply to the program and you must meet certain GPA requirements, for more info look here: http://www.bridgew.edu/CriminalJustice/fiveyear.cfm

PM me if you have specific question about BSC I work there and I am graduating in the fall there with a BS in CJ.

In general the the program here has gotten better since I started when the CJ was combined with Soc.

There is a 5 year Masters in CJ here but do not expect to finish it in 5.

Tuition is fair but goes up every year but you will not pay much less anywhere else and have Quinn bill. Staff is friendly and helpful when you go to them for help. All facilities and building have gone or are going under renovation. The entire campus is wireless for laptop use.

The academic achievement center in the Maxwell Library is great if you need help with math, writing, or any other academic courses.

Like I said PM if you have any other specific questions.
