I am currently a student at Mass Maritime in their Emergency Management/ Homeland Security major. I am writing a paper about Police communications, such as volintary compliance through talking to the subject. And also how to recognize a danger while handling a suspect. I have had training in Verbal Judo and defensive tactics, but I need some concrete sources to help back me up on the paper. If anyone can lend a hand, or a book title, it would be greatly appreciated.

Any books related to the Reid Technique of Interview/Interrogation, or books from the Wicklander-Zulawski Method of Criminal Interview should do it for you. Both are widely accepted as being authorities on interview, interrogation, and interpreting body language- all of which is essential to "police communications". One of the best one's I've read is "Essentials of the Reid Technique" by Joseph Buckley. It summarizes the major points of Reid's method.
