BAYONNE, N.J. — A Bayonne driver who was pulled over for throwing trash out of his car also had marijuana in his possession and became physically combative with cops on Wednesday, earning himself a multitude of charges, police said. Cops said that when they approached Kevin Hezekiah's car, they saw a plastic bag of marijuana in plain view.
When officers asked Hezekiah, 32, of Broadway, to hand over his drugs and get out of the car, he threw a forearm at one of the officers' chest, police said.
Another officer tried to restrain Hezekiah, but he kicked that officer in the knee and then led cops on a foot chase that ended when Hezekiah was tackled. After a violent struggle, cops arrested Hezekiah, according to reports.
A search revealed 15 plastic bags of marijuana as well as 98 clear plastic bags that cops believed was for packaging the marijuana, police said.
Hezekiah was transported to police headquarters after he and the two arresting officers were treated at Bayonne Medical Center for minor injuries, police said.
Back at headquarters, cops said, they discovered that Hezekiah was on the hook for over $2,212 in arrest warrants from Jersey City, police said.
He was charged with having outstanding warrants, aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and other drug charges, police said.
