HOUSTON, Tex. — A Houston police officer shot and wounded a man suspected of robbing a McDonald's in northwest Harris County on Thursday night.According to a preliminary investigation, the officer was having dinner with his son in a shopping center in the 13300 block of Jones about 10 p.m. when someone told him a McDonald's was being robbed, said Johanna Abad, spokeswoman for the Houston Police Department. "The officer came out of the restaurant and saw the guy running in the parking lot with a weapon," Abad said. She said the officer shouted at the man to stop, but instead the man pointed his gun at the officer, who opened fire. The wounded man was taken to Ben Taub hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, Abad said. He could face charges of aggravated robbery, she said. The investigation is ongoing, she said.
