COLUMBUS, Ga.-- An otherwise peaceful Good Friday was shattered on Manchester Expressway by a daring hold-up.
Two guards who were servicing the ATM, at the Peachtree CB&T branch when a gunman dressed in his Sunday's best robbed the two of several bags of cash.
"I'm not too shocked about this at all. I think it is just crime escalating all over and unfortunately theirs not enough police officers to be every place all the time," said CB&T Customer, Beth Price.
Columbus' first bank hold-up of the year left police searching for the stylish suspect. "An armed individual came up and robbed one of the guards from the armored car at gunpoint," said Columbus Police Dept, Lt. Randy Hart.
That's when police say one of the guards fired multiple shots at the robber, but it's not known if he was hit. Police say the gunman left in a four-door black BMW or Mercedes Benz. He's a black man in his 20's with dreadlocks, 6-foot-1, weighing 180 pounds and wearing a business suit.
Those who use the ATM say even though this time it wasn't a customer who was robbed, they always take precautions. "Usually I go in my car only and if I have to get out, it is a quick transaction," said CB&T Customer, Carla Bennett.
The armored truck company is offering a $25,000 reward for information that can lead to an arrest. So if you have information that can help police locate the spiffy robber, you can call Columbus police.
Meanwhile, the company also tells News Leader Nine that this is their first hold up of the year and they service ATM's nationwide.
