PLYMOUTH - Salvatore LaRiccia blames an addiction for his sexually charged Internet chatter with detectives posing as young teens.

LaRiccia, 57, of Medway, was put on probation for five years but avoided jail time after pleading guilty in Plymouth District Court to eight counts of attempting to commit a crime.

LaRiccia, who engaged in graphic sexual banter with detectives posing as girls 13 and 14 years old, was caught in an Internet sting aimed at child predators.

He is still facing charges in separate case. In that case, Attleboro police arrested LaRiccia on July 12 at the Balfour River Walk, where he planned to meet a teen for sex, according to police.

LaRiccia, former chairman of Medway Tax Facts, an antitax group, told a psychologist that the sexual banter was just fantasy, like putting on handcuffs during sex, according to court documents.

Asked if he found it sexually arousing to be communicating with a teenager, LaRiccia replied, ‘‘It’s different, and it’s illicit and another edge. Would I ever do something like that? I don’t think so. I expected to meet somebody and have a good laugh about it. Instead, I had a gun to my head and six guys on me.’’

LaRiccia’s comments are in the Aid-to-Sentencing Evaluation that forensic psychologist Carol Feldman filed in court.

LaRiccia’s defense attorneys sought the report to support their argument for probation rather than jail time.
