Hello out there:

I applied online for the FBI Special Agent position almost a year or so ago. I keep looking at my status online and it says "Pending Phase 1 testing." Is anyone else going through this who has heard anything about when the phase 1 test is or knows anything about this process?

Thank you

A friend of mine just took the written test in March down in VA and passed. Haven't heard anything about the next stage though

I applied online last month, and got an mail fom the boston office 2 weeks later saying i didnt have enough qualifications.....I have a bachelors degree in MS, masters degreein CJ, 7 years of spanish, asian male under 36, and homeland security....what the F*** are they looking for????

I believe the FBI is heavy into recruiting for the Hostage Rescue Team at the moment, i.e., Special Forces, Navy Seals, etc.

It doesn't mean they should be ignoring or blowing off qualified applicants, but it is the FBI.

Also, the budget for feds will be out in October. I'm sure you can expect to hear something this fall at the latest.

Good luck.

umm right now if you don't speak Arabic you have pretty slim chances of getting in.

If you check out on the fbi.gov site as far as careers go they have a couple of different recommended routes to employment, deffinitely arabic or any language is one solid way to get on, but also law degrees or accounting degrees. I guess the accounting is valuable to them as far as going after white collar crime

oh forgot to look, but they are looking for only GS13 status hires only at this time

Besides the degree the other thing is FBI requires is 3 years "experience" this usually involves law enforcement or another successful full 3 years employment in a job which they consider "of investigative and/or professional nature." People with 3 years working as a cop, auditor, news reporter, college professor have been hired as agents. The language etc is the plus they add on after you meet the other requirements. I am not sure if it is true now but they will not hire anyone under age 23. New agents usually are older because of the required 3 years full time experience.

Move on, don't put all your eggs in one basket bro! Don't count on the FBI to come thru. Plenty of other Fed Opportunities, Postal Inspectors, DEA, ATF, Marshals. Surf the web and apply Boy! -Southwick34 strikes again like a Cobra Kai
