LOUISVILLE, Ky. --
An officer killed a minor Monday night after a foot chase was followed by several shots fired, according to Louisville Metro police.
According to public information officer Dwight Mitchell, the chase began in the 7900 block of Ferndale Road around 7:45 p.m. when police responded to a break-in report. Mitchell said officers arrived during the break-in and a short foot chase ensued that ended in one suspect being taken into custody.
Police continued to chase a second suspect on foot and, according to Louisville Metro Police Chief Robert White, multiple shots were fired. The suspect, a juvenile, was fatally injured. Police said the suspect carried a handgun, but as of Monday night, it was not yet known if he fired on officers.
No officers were injured in the incident, according to police.
