State Police Promote 30 Officers


Today, April 26, 2007, Colonel Mark F. Delaney, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, announced the promotion of 30 members of the State Police. The ceremony was held at the State Police Headquarters in Framingham at 7:00pm

“It is a distinct pleasure to announce the promotion of these truly dedicated members of the State Police. The promotion of these officers speaks to their competence, diligence and integrity.” said Colonel Delaney. “The addition of these supervisors will enable the Massachusetts State Police to continue to provide quality policing to the citizens of the Commonwealth.”

Congratulations to all, I actually know one of the new lieutenants. I didn't even know he made sergeant, I guess it's been awhile....

Do they lose their seniority when promoted, so a new sergeant is fair game to be sent out to the Berkshires?

There's no seniority bid for sergeants...they can be moved at will. Naturally, the "senior" sergeant at a scene would take command, but that's about the extent of seniority for non-coms. Hopefully the tests will fall in quick order allowing the NC to get a quick promo to Lt.
