FALL RIVER - Jordan Cabral is trying to run a successful family restaurant in the Flint, but he said his efforts are being hampered by an "invasion" of gang members in the neighborhood.

Cabral, owner/manager of St. Michael's Club Inc., 63 Webster St., told The Herald News Saturday that a major disturbance Friday night at his establishment, started by Crips gang members, resulted in Cabral and five of his customers being injured.

"They smashed my windows. There were six people injured. It was pretty much an invasion," he said.

And this was not the first trouble Cabral has experienced at his business with the gang.

He said the ongoing problems stem from a two-story house at 68 Webster St., directly across the street from the restaurant.

He said the incident was sparked Friday night when Cabral told a man, who was rapidly drinking "shots" at the bar, he could not have another one for a while, but the man repeatedly asked him for more every few minutes.

At some point, the man swore at Cabral and shoved his beer, splashing Cabral, who then advised the man, "You're shut off and you're out of here."

Cabral said he went around the bar to escort the man out when the man punched him, and Cabral defended himself.

At that time, he said, six people came from across the street, entered the business, grabbed pool sticks and smashed windows.

"A female customer was cut with broken glass," Cabral said. "She went to the hospital to have the glass removed."

He also said he was unhappy with the way police handled the situation.

"I had to search for the cops to give them a statement," he said. "I feel they could be doing a better job than what they're doing."

Afterward, Cabral said two men still in the place threatened him. Police were called back and detained the two, but Cabral did not know if they were charged.

Cabral said he had to board up windows and clean blood off a floor.
