A former Berklee College student is being sought by police and campus security after he threatened school officials, saying a Virginia Tech-like murder rampage could happen at the music school, police said. The threats were made during a meeting the former student had with school officials yesterday, police said. “During the meeting, threats were made against a professor,” said Boston police officer James Kenneally. “He said the same thing that happened in Virginia could happen here.” Rob Hayes, assistant vice president of public relations, said the school is investigating. “We are aware of the situation,” he said. “Boston police and Berklee campus security are engaged in the situation and cooperating. It’s a police matter and we don’t want to jeopardize any investigation by making further comment.” He refused to say whether students were notified of the threat, or what if any steps the campus was taking to beef up security. If he’s found, police have been ordered to have him psychologically evaluated, police said.
