SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS (WWLP) - Springfield police were busy Thursday night looking into two separate shootings that are believed to be gang related. Springfield Police Sergeant David Kane said that at 8:45 Thursday night they responded to a drive-by shooting at 175 Ranney Street. One man was taken to a local hospital for treatment with non-life threatening gun shot wounds.
Sergeant Kane also said that at about 9:30 at 15 Girard Avenue another person was shot. That man was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening gun shot wounds. Sergeant Kane said the second shooting is suspected to be retaliatory for the first shooting.
Witness descriptions helped police arrest two juveniles and one adult on numerous charges including assault to murder. They will be arraigned later Friday morning.
