MILFORD, N.H. -- Two Milford High School students were released Wednesday after spending a week in jail after they were charged with passing a threatening note.
Kasey Mangold and Caitlin Kinnunen, both 17, were released after a court appearance. The two, along with Thomas McFarland, 17, were charged with disorderly conduct last week.
Police said that the three left a note for a student on Thursday that read, "You are on my hit list. Make sure you are at school on April 20. I am going to shoot up the school."
The girl contacted authorities, who used surveillance video to catch the trio, police said.
Police said that Mangold told them the note was her idea and was a joke, but authorities said that they have to take such threats seriously.
"A threat like this, we need to take seriously, and I think that those facts were presented at the court at the initial arraignment, and the judge set bail," Capt. Chris Nervik said.
Bail was set at $15,000 each. McFarland's family paid the bail, but the girls' families couldn't, so they remained in jail for a week.
