WOODBRIDGE, Conn. -- Nine students were found to be under the influence of drugs on a school campus on Friday, district authorities said.
The Amity Regional School District's superintendent's office told Eyewitness News that two students remain in police custody as of 11:30 a.m. and seven others were transported to an area hospital as required by school system policy.
School officials said a parent alerted administrators to students in the parking lot. School officials said they found four students inside a car, from which they said a strong odor of marijuana emanated. Police responded to the campus and arrested two students who possessed marijuana. Police said officers arrested a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old in the case on drug charges.
Two other students inside the vehicle and five other students were discovered to be under the influence of marijuana. Four students were transported via ambulance because school officials were unable to reach the students' parents at the time.
