BOSTON -- A body has washed ashore along Scusset Beach in Sandwich.
The Barnstable County District Attorney did not disclose much about the investigation, but investigators were at the scene for hours Friday and had a difficult time identifying the body.
The Coast Guard searched from the air and sea as a precaution. They were on the lookout for a raft and possibly another body, but nothing else was found. Three fishermen from the sunken Lady of Grace that went down in late January during a storm in Nantucket Sound have never been found.
The Coast Guard said that so far, there's no evidence linking the body found to the missing crew.
WBZ)CAMBRIDGE A body found on Scusset Beach in Bourne Thursday has been identified as a missing student from MIT, according to the school.
22-year-old Daniel Barclay, a senior studying political science, was last heard from Sunday April 8.
His mother told the Boston Herald he had a conversation with his grandmother, sent e-mails to classmates about a debate and a presentation and was never heard from again.
He did not show up for the presentation Monday, the paper reported.
His mother, Sue Kayton, has come in from northern California and moved into a Cambridge hotel to help police with their search.
"He's spent no money . . . He hasn't checked his e-mail in 11 days. He hasn't touched any money," she told the Herald.
Kayton said her son took his wallet, but left his credit cards in his room at Ashdown House.
He took his cell phone but did not use it during his disappearance, she said.
There is no indication at this point how Barclay ended up on the Cape.
