we have a guy that just came back from training in Nevada and will be heading to Ft. Dix in two weeks for more training with the MP's and then off to Iraq.

are there still shortages over there and should we send him of with some new body armor ? he said their getting the new M4's complete with red dot scopes. said he wasn't sure about the vest.

any comment's/idea's ?

Thanks

Can't hurt to take it with you. If they are short over there at least he'll have his.

What branch of service is he in? is he an mp? the airforce is pretty good about that stuff but i know the army and marines are killin' themselves for some armor right now. cant hurt to have an extra set.

Good intentions, but don't bother. I recently read an article on military.com that the Army has banned the wear of all non-issue gear.

I got back from there last August. The Army's got plenty of the latest greatest vests for everyone and all the extra heavy add ons that will fuck up anyones knees over time. It's always nice to have some old vests to put on the floor boards or drape over your turret, though.

he's moved around . was in the army reserves , then the see-bees and now back in the army.

the last trip was training for baton , mace and qualification on the m4. now it's off to Ft. Dix ( i believe ) for MOUT training.

he was talking about "dragon skin" and seemed impressed with it. that made me think these guys were still buying their own stuff.

kid lucked out the last time and was deployed to Greece. not so lucky this time , strait to Bagdad

shit looks bad over there.

and welcome back SargeLorenzo
