I heard a rumor that Florida Sheriffs Dept. and Florida Law Enforcement agencies have different qualifications and exceptions for employment and academies.
I'm in the Air Force Security Forces ("new" name for SP) and I heard that Florida accepts the Security Forces Tech School as an academy. Is there any truth to this? Also, do any other states accept this as a transferrable academy as well? And how do Florida and those other states use veteran's preference? Mass bumps you up on the list and gives you 2 points added to the test. Anything like that for FL. the other states?

I think they have a program where they swear you in, give you your gun, and issue you an aircraft..............

come on, i had to follow up on a rumor like that lol. i've seen stranger.....after all not all of us can be graced with being born or residing in our great state of taxes and cadillac deval... $14,000 on drapes...do you blame me for trying to see whats out there!? haha

I have no Idea about FL, but, D C Metro does accept the Military Police academy from the Marine Corps and Army as a full time academy....

I also looked into FL Law Enforcement before I reenlisted. The deal with FL is that if you meet certain criteria you only have to attend a two week prep course for the state LE exam. I spoke to a recruiter from the Seminole County Sheriff's Office and he said that based on my training as a Security Forces Member I would qualify for the two week course.
