Police Say Vehicles Located, 'Persons Of Interest' Questioned
PITTSBURG, N.H. -- A North Country police station and courthouse were evacuated Wednesday after police received a threat that two towns were going to be targeted with explosives, police said.
State police said that the threat contained detailed information that Colebrook and Pittsburg were going to be targeted by several vehicles containing explosive devices that were going to be detonated Wednesday.
The Pittsburg police station and Colebrook District Court were evacuated as a precaution, police said. Colebrook police Chief Steve Cass said that the threat was faxed to the Pittsburg police department by a person known to police.
Police said later that they had located suspect vehicles and "persons of interest" in the investigation and that there did not appear to be any cause for concern to the public or to any buildings.
"Nothing has blown up," State Police Col. Frederick Booth told The Associated Press at mid-afternoon. "We haven't found any explosives yet. There is nobody running round with explosives."
Police said they questioned local businessman Jonathan Wolfgram, 29, in connection with the threats and said he was cooperating with the investigation.
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact New Hampshire State Police at Troop F in Twin Mountain at 603-846-3333 or New Hampshire State Police at 800-525-5555.
