Concerning the latest gun grab from the Legislature...

Senator Barrios has proposed "We recommend that penalties be established by statutory amendment to the existing law, and that State Police be assigned the duty of making periodic checks of registered guns."

So I suppose the question is this: Would those law enforcement types out there feel at all comfortable about going into the homes of citizens to "make periodic checks" of registered guns? Should there be probable cause that the guns are not there or cannot be accounted for? Is this the beginnings of the "police state", where the hammers batter down your doors? Is the completely unsubstantiated theory of "straw purchases" justificationj for such in invasion of one's home?

Sounds a bit like Germany circa 1933 if you ask me. Chancellor Barrios to the rescue.

Pre-existing Firearms Restrictions in Germany
Before the Nazi regime took power, the liberal Weimar Government had enacted the Law on Firearms and Ammunition in 1928. The 1928 Law established broad national regulations on firearms ownership. The 1928 Law required persons to get a "firearms acquisition permit" from the authorities to buy, trade, inherit, or receive a firearm as a gift. To buy ammunition required an "ammunition acquisition permit." Hunters were required to obtain an "annual hunting permit." All firearms were required to bear a serial number a mark of the maker or dealer.
As a result of the 1928 Law, the national German government knew the owner and location of every legally-held firearm in the country. This law afforded to the Nazi regime that took power in 1933 the information needed to conduct searches and seizures of firearms from political opponents and other targets. Raids of homes started in 1933; even Albert Einstein's apartment was searched in the quest to take any firearms he might have owned.
In addition, Nazi authorities banned the importation of handguns by order in June, 1933, and they refused to issue firearms permits to persons deemed untrusthworthy. In 1935, the Citizenship Law was decreed, which excluded Jews from civil rights. Local police were commanded in late 1935 not to issue firearms permits to Jews.

Isn't that violation of the constitution? Wouldn't the police have to have probable cause to enter someone's home, and then they would have to apply for a search warrant. What's next? Police enter your home to do an "alcohol check" to insure you're not storing booze in a place kids could get it? How about periodic "child welfare checks" to ensure no one is abusing their kids. How about we wire up everyone's house to ensure compliance?

You can't enter someone home to check on guns. Hell even the federal gov't knows this. What is this guy a damn Nazi or something.

It would probably ease the burden if they were teamed up with Jehovah Witnesses.

I don't know how I missed this one...I just voted for choice #4. If ANYONE thinks they are entering my house to check my guns, cars, alcohol, pitbull/rottweiler/doberman or any other thing they wish to control, without a warrant, BE ADVISED: My response will be abrupt and irrevocable. I will not be inside said domicile...chase me through the mountains. I'll return my firearms to you...

That's great he want's to go into homes to check legally owned guns. I wonder what his feelings would be on going into homes to find illegal guns, oh you can't do that it would be unconstitutional. How about jacking up all the gang bangers running around boston and other communities, that would violate their rights.

It never ceases to amaze me how the liberal moonbats will trample the constitution whenever it comes to the second amendment, but lock up the 90-10 illegals and report them to immigration and you are considered the gustapo, it makes me want to puke.
