(Newington - WTNH) _ A 16-year-old student at Newington High School is arrested for bringing a weapon onto school grounds. On Monday, the school resource officer got a report from a student that the 16 year old suspect had tried to stab another teenager while trying to sell fireworks off campus. The student said he was afraid that the suspect may try to harm him in school. The resource officer questioned the suspect and found that he was carrying an illegal knife and pepper spray. The suspect said he had the knife and pepper spray for protection. Police searched the suspect's home to seize the illegal fireworks that he allegedly tried to sell the night before. During the search, police turned up illegal fireworks, air guns and bomb making materials. The name of the suspect is not being released due to his age. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court.
