BRATTLEBORO, N.H. -- A New Hampshire man involved in a drag race that led to a collision that killed three people is going to spend three months on a prison work crew.
But the judge who sentenced Jeffrey Kimball of Walpole acknowledged he wasn't the primary cause of the wreck.
Kimball, 27, was sentenced to 3 to 6 years in prison, but the judge suspended all but 90 days.
The Nov. 27, 2004 wreck occurred when Tyler Gilbert, 23, of Putney, lost control of his car and collided with a car on Route 5, killing a Dummerston couple and injuring their two nieces.
Gilbert also died.
Prosecutors said Kimball initiated the race but wasn't involved in the crash.
Kimball must also spend 40 hours speaking about the dangers of reckless driving.
