I am wondering if anyone has let their EMT lapse over because of getting a job in a PD. I am going through the hiring process for a PD right now but my only problem is that I dont have my refresher yet and the academy might give me problems in getting it. So should I let it lapse? Any input will help.
Don't ever let any of your certifications run out. It is only more difficult later on if you want to get them back. Some departments provide a stipend for being EMT certified. Check the contract for the department you are going to work for before doing anything.
Ditto, I did this online program while I was on weekend leave from the SPA, if I hadnt have found this, I would have to let my cert lapse

What is the two hour practical like? Are they ball-breakers?

Thanks everyone I will use the online refresher on one of the weekends so I can keep my cert. Thanks for the input.

Upandcoming,
I realize that you are in the Chicopee area but every year for the past 17, I run a BLS refresher at Stoneham PD on the two weekends following Thanksgiving. If you get jammed up, drop me a line. Never give up your certifications and good luck in the academy. Stay healthy and safe,

Thanks Sgt. I will be in touch later on this year.

And don't forget you get 20 con ed hours credit by going to the academy!
