NEW BEDFORD — Two city men face drug trafficking charges after police uncovered $16,000 worth of cocaine and a marijuana growing operation in the city's West End, police said.
Said Wilson, 33, and Xavier Hensley, 25, were arrested after narcotics detectives raided their residence at 203 Ash St. Thursday night, police said.
Detective Jarrod Gracia obtained a search warrant for the residence following a three-week investigation. While conducting the search, police discovered an alleged marijuana growing operation in a room on the third floor, police said.
The windows in the room were boarded up, and the room was equipped with high-powered lamps, along with a carbon dioxide time release system and a ventilation system. Detectives seized 41 marijuana plants from the room, according to police.
Through further searching, detectives also seized more than 160 grams of cocaine, cash and drug-related paraphernalia, police said.
Mr. Wilson and Mr. Hensley were both charged with trafficking more than 100 grams of cocaine, cultivating marijuana and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance laws.
