A 12-year-old girl and a Green Bay police officer were injured when a sport utility vehicle collided with a squad car late Tuesday night, and police think a 14-year-old boy may have been driving.
The crash happened on the west side of downtown Green Bay. According to police, an officer tried to stop an SUV shortly before 11 P.M. because its taillights were out. That was at the intersection of Dousman and Broadway.
The SUV sped into an alley behind the Old Fort Square shops on Broadway, then east down Hubbard Street.
The driver of the SUV went through a stop sign on Hubbard and crashed into another police officer who arrived to assist with the traffic stop.
The 12-year-old was thrown from the SUV. Two teenage boys in the SUV -- a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old -- ran from the scene towards the Fox River, but they were caught shortly after.
Police say the girl was taken to the hospital with several serious cuts.
The officer involved in the crash suffered minor injuries and was treated at a hospital and released.
The two boys are in jail facing numerous charges.
Authorities don't believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the incident but have not yet ruled them out.
