Will Boston Call anymore names

(Click here to view the original thread on the MassCops Message Board)

I was curious if anyone has any info regarding Boston calling for anymore names on the current list. I switched a choice to Boston, but I believe I may be too late.

Unless you're a Boston resident, and were for at least a year prior to the last test, you have no chance of being called regardless of how many names they call.

OK thanks for your always offered opinion. Now if anyone has any "INFO" from inside Boston not Quincy I'd appreciate it.

It has nothing to do with my opinion, the fact is that you HAVE to live in Boston in order to be a Boston Police Officer. Just because you don't like what I say doesn't invalidate its accuracy.

But....plow straight ahead, since you obviously have it all figured out. Go ahead and keep your choice with Boston, and see how far it gets you.

Not true, they have exhuasted the resident list. I do not live in Boston and I am currently going through the backround check process. However if a non-resident is hired they have to gain residency before the acadamy starts.

thank you hpd for a valued comment. Delta Ive been a cop for two years for non civil service department, i am inquiring about Boston so I shall plow ahead thank you

I thought you had to attain residency within 1 year? Never heard of needing residency before the academy starts.

I thought they called all the residents and didnt find enough qualified. I think they ammended the contract to say that you must gain residency within one year of hire. I was not a resident and neither was my buddy and when we retruned from iraq we both got cards!!!

The deadline for any Police Officer to Lateral transfer was April 1, 2007.

For any civil service applicants, if you didnt have your name on the list for Boston Jan 2007 you cannot put your name on the list and expect to be called. You can switch your name now onto boston but you will not be called unless Boston calls for another certified list which isnt going to happen.

Now for any non resident applicant or lateral transfer you must move into Boston within 2 weeks of being offered the Job and reside there forever.

hope this helps

The potential lateral transfers were told to have residency established when they get appointed.

They will waive the 1 yr residency but if your dept is non civil service then you are out of luck (lateral transfer only)......

Posted by: wolf9848

Yea I did read the entire thread. The reason I asked is because many us new veterans were deployed for the past few years, and many of us recently took the military make up exam for 2005 in feb 2007. So we were added to the 2005 list. Its BS that we cannot get looked at given the situation we were in. Especially seeing how Boston PD is hurting so bad for recruits and us qualified guys are sitting in limbo.

I have a very good friend who is a non-resident that was offered a conditional offer of employment from Boston....I believe all he has left to is the physical and PAT test. He will have to move into the city when he starts though.

What are your qualifications?

Posted by: gooday

If you are a nonresident then you have to move to boston by the day of you appointment. Thats what I was told. If you play the system will be fired on the spot because you have to sign a residency agreement apon appointment.
