How is your overtime distributed?

Hi everyone, I am just curious as to how your departments distribute your overtime. We are looking to put our overtime on IMC or a different computer program.. Right now we have it set up with... if you work a shift, you get bumped to the bottom of the list, but that will hopefully change to hours worked... soon...

So my question is, how many people use IMC to track their overtime, and is it a decent function of IMC... or are there other police programs out there...
Any information is greatly appreciated...

Be a good suck ball, and get all the ot you want. I honestly don't know how some guys look themselves in the mirror. Some of these kiss asses would sell out their own mother if it meant gaining favor with brass. It's fuckin nauseating. Im sorry PVD24, I digress. You struck a nerve.

Dude, have your Union get its act together and get something in the contract for a fair and equitable distribution of overtime. Most places have it set up that the list gets "zero'd" once a year, or every 1/4. Then every hour that gets works in OT gets added to your total...guys with the most go to the bottom. Some places have it so that if you refuse an OT shift you get the hours you would have worked added to your name, I personally don't see the use in this but that will open up a whole new thread of discussion.

You work an hour OT, an hour gets added to your total. A shift becomes available they call the first guy on the list and then work down the list until it is filled.

I don't know how IMC handles this function...I heard it did - you may want to ask IMC for the names of a couple dept's that use this function and speak directly to them.

we go with a annual O/T list. you sign up what shifts you want to be called for or none at all.

if you get called in , it's a minimum 4 hours. if your working and get held over . it could be one hour or the whole shift.

all seniority based of course

if you catch anyone jumping the list , you can file a grievance. might take a couple years , but guys have gotten their money back

We've tried several systems. We are now using a card system, that started by seniority. If you take a shift, you go to the back of the list. Your card will move up as others take a shift, or if you are at the front, it will stay at the front until you take a shift. A simple system, and most seem satisfied with it.

Our OT/Details are filled by who ever has the lowest hours is the first to get called and the person who has the most hours is last, and everyone else falls in between by number of hours. We have separate lists for OT and detals, it works very well. The senority BS is ridiculous.

Our overtime is meted out quite fairly... amongst the few sgt's and above that get it....

We have one supervisor who handles the scheduling. A list of employees weekly hours is generated and those with the least amount of hours have first dibbs. If employees have the same amount of hours, for example 3 people have 40 hours for the week, it then goes by seniority.
