Judge clears Pembroke man charged following attack on disabled woman in bar bathroom By TAMARA RACE The Patriot Ledger WAREHAM - A Pembroke man charged in connection with a vicious assault on a disabled woman in a Marshfield bar has been found not guilty.
His alleged accomplice is still at large.
Wareham District Court Judge Theresa Wright found William A. Peterson, 54, of 201 Chapel St., Pembroke, not guilty of unarmed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, larceny from a person and assault and battery at the conclusion of a jury-waived trial Wednesday.
Police say Peterson and Elisha Bowman, 33, of West Falmouth stalked a 53-year-old woman, following her from one Marshfield bar, Rafferty’s Pub, to another, the Roadhouse Bar, at about 10 p.m. on Nov. 24, 2005, Thanksgiving Day.
Bowman sat next to the woman and Peterson, after entering separately, sat a few seats away, police said.
When the woman went into the bathroom, Bowman followed and attacked her, police said.
Bowman repeatedly punched the woman and smashed her head against a brick wall before grabbing her purse and running off, police said.
