WEST WARWICK, R.I. -- A man who allegedly threatened Gov. Don Carcieri during vulgar phone messages to the governor's office was arrested and charged Wednesday after police were able to track him down because he left his name and phone number for a return call.
Robert Pontarelli, 59, was arrested by State Police at his apartment in West Warwick for allegedly making phone calls Friday that included indecent language and threats.
Maj. Steven O'Donnell told The Providence Journal that Pontarelli admitted he was drunk when he dialed. A spokesman for the governor would not comment on the nature of the calls.
But O'Donnell reported he said "I would kill you if I could," and "You never had a round pass over your head," in two separate messages left at the constituent affairs office. He then left his name and phone number.
I really wouldn't say that's "tracking him down"...
