CONCORD, N.H. -- A 65-year-old New Boston, N.H., man who pleaded guilty to trafficking pornographic photos of his 2-year-old granddaughter has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Richard Hawes was arrested in 2005 after a CVS clerk in Manchester reported finding explicit photos of the child left in a self-serve photo printing booth.
Around the same time, a CVS employee from Nashua reported to police that someone had developed photos of the same nature in that store. An investigation showed that the photos were of the same child. After unsuccessful attempts to identify the person who had the developed the photos or the child, images of the girl's face were released to the national media with a request for assistance from the public in identifying her.
Hawes was arrested after the girl's father, who was in Florida, saw the photos on national television and called police.
Hawes was sentenced in federal court in Concord Wedneday.
