Ahhh the circus that is the Methuen Police Dept.

The Eagle Tribune www.eagletribune.com is reporting that the Methuen Police Dept. paid a consultant $35,000 for a $50,000 grant, as dumb as THAT sounds the neglect to mention that the City had to put up $17,000 in matching funds. do the math with me 35,000 + 17,000 = 52,000 so in applying for and receiving the grant the City LOST $2,000.

The fun never stops

so where does the $17,000 figure come from?

I can't seem to do the math.

The 17,000 was the matching funds the City had to pay to secure the grant. Add that to the 35,000 paid to the consultant you get 52,000. The fun part is that the grant was of course... mis-spent by the Chief and the Feds are demanding $30,000 back.

My buddy works for this department. Says the guys are a great group of guys, however some of the brass are out for themselves and screw the patrol every chance they get. He tells me they are driving around in cruisers with 200,000 + miles. My dept rotates are line cars out at 60-70K miles. Hope their life insurance is up to date.
