Also, does anyone have any information on the Worcester Airport Police? Are they Massport or? What are their requirements?

If you gotta ask questions about getting on Massport.
Means you aint connected so you probably dont have a chance.

From what I understand, Worcester Airport Police are their own entity. I believe they derive their powers from the city of Worcester. Massport operates the airport, however it is owned by the city. From recent newspaper articles, Massport may own the airport soon, so the fate of the Airport police are unknown at this point. The Officer's double as aircraft crash firefighters. Pretty low key department, I heard there's only 6 or 7 including the Chief.

Ahh so I take it its not even worth applying for. I don't even think I can anyway as it requires a Police Academy Certificate and I have only done the Part Time academy. I'll drop by Worcester Airport and get more info on them.

I saw a posting last January for Worcester Airport, I haven't noticed any since. Again, real low key place. I got a little info from a guy that worked there about 5-6 years ago. Please share any info you find out about them

I have a very good freind who works at Massport. He warns me to stay far away. The unoin is pretty weak, it is a long shoremans union so the cops get fucked. He had nothing good to say other than the pay and benies. He was very disappointed when he got there and he is trying to get out. It is not what everyone thinks it is, hope this helps.

Basically if you do not know someone you will not get into massport. It is a good job and the union isnt weak it is strong. Good bunch of guys work there and the pay is awesome.

by all means , fill out the application. you never know.
don't want to be a wet blanket, it's just a very political job
the port officers have done poorly under the republicans. maybe with Deville in there they might do a little better.

There is a special election campaign underway for the former Senate Presidents seat.
The odds on favorite is the current State Rep. from East Boston Anthony Petruccelli. State Rep and Cambridge City Councilor, Tim Toomey is also running along with Revere City Councilor Dan Rizzo. If Toomey or Rizzo loses, Toomey will still have his State Rep and City Council seat and Rizzo will continue to serve as a Revere Councilor.
This is a good opportunity for someone to make some connections.
