GULF COVE, Fla. -- A desperate father fought off an armed intruder inside his home after the man allegedly kidnapped his daughter and held her at gunpoint. Joseph Charles was reading the paper Wednesday night at his home in Gulf Cove when a man barreled through the front door, pushing a gun into the back of his 16-year-old daughter Phylicia Bolt-Charles. The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office reports that Charles knocked the gun away from Dino Raffaele Liberto and punched and kicked him out of the house. Deputies found Liberto nearby and charged him with carjacking, kidnapping, two counts of robbery with a firearm and grand theft. He was being held without bond in Charlotte County jail. Authorities say the girl was driving to her brother's house just a few blocks away when Liberto ran up to her car and pointed a gun at her. He jumped inside and demanded money, but she said she had none and persuaded her attacker to let her drive home to get some. Before kidnapping the teen, Liberto stole a car and crashed it into a tree. Joseph Charles was treated at a hospital for minor abrasions.
