A man with a gun was shot and killed by two Lakewood police officers Tuesday morning. It happened in the 3200 block of South Indiana Street shortly before 11 a.m. According to Lakewood police spokesman Steve Davis, a woman called police to report a domestic argument and said that a man had a gun. When officers responded to the house, they were confronted by an armed man in the front yard of the home, Davis said. Shots were exchanged between the officers and the man, and the man with the gun was hit several times. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The officers involved were not hurt. The relationship between the man and the woman was not immediately released. The woman did not appear to be injured, but when she had called, she indicated that the domestic incident had gone on for quite some time, Davis said. Investigators are looking into the officer-involved shooting and the two officers involved were placed on leave, as standard procedure. The area where the shooting happened is near Morrison Road.
