DEDHAM - A local man was charged with open and gross lewdness Friday evening after he was caught in an adult video store using two sex toys to perform a sex act, according to Police Lt. Robert Nedder.
William Haggerty, 62, Dedham, was arrested at 6:32 p.m. at Amazing Adult Express at 530 Providence Highway on charges of open and gross lewdness and shoplifting more than $100.
Nedder said store personnel called police after seeing Haggerty pleasuring himself with two sex toys he had not purchased.
Such episodes are rare at the store, Nedder said.
"It's not something I want to see every day, either," he said.
Haggerty has several open cases in Dedham District Court relating to "sexually-based incidents," but he declined to describe the cases in detail, Nedder said. Nedder also said Haggerty is not required to register as a sex offender.
