maybe if the sheriff took more time believing in his officers instead of his crooked administrators,,, and perhaps stop trying to protect his own name and just do his damn job, things would be ok in barnstable county..
Jack DeMello where are U?

Posted by: pahapoika

thought the sheriff down there was ok ?

has to be better than the desk jockeys in other counties

at least the guy was a cop

Posted by: 4ransom

care to back up your statement with any facts or examples of why you feel this way?

If not, I guess your username speaks for itself

Looks like someone didn't get that job in the warrant apprehension unit.......

Posted by: pahapoika

i've talked to guys working inside and was told the Barnstable Sheriff was trying to make a deal with the union by hiding some money for the officers in their last contract and their union turned around and screwed the sheriff anyways ( forgot the details about that story )

but as a retired trooper, the Barnstable Sheriff has to be better than some of the other sheriffs with zero law enforcement background

You sir are an idiot.

From what I gather, there are many problems down in Barnstable County. The Cape Cod Times reported this past summer not only 5 officers getting arrested, but the department has a HUGE Ethics complaint loged against the administrators of the sheriff.
I also hear he recently fired a Captain for emailing a state rep about an early retirement bill designed exclusively for the special sheriff of Barnstable.
The problem exits through the Superintendant and Dep Supt. who are buddies from Dedham. Tons of complaints against both of them, and the Sheriff, who was a huge backer of Kerry Healy, had big plans for himself if she were elected. I am a veteran Correctional Officer Of many years, and my sources tell me that the Sheriff has a tight media policy, which is why he got away with fireing a captain.
He had alot too lose and aparently people who want to stand up to him are fearful of thier jobs...what ever happen to freedom of speach.,, if anyone is interested, I have much more on the topic...
TO Cowardjimmy: I hear you brother, and don t risk your job anymore.
in the end JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL!

I gotta ask - are you and CowardJimmy roommates or something? It's just that you're both posting from the same IP address and you seem to be the only one around here that agrees with him. Or is it one of those Sybil split-personality things? Me, myself, and Jimmy?

SNAP! Cold Busted!

Posted by: pahapoika

just want to say i'm not a cheerleader for the Barnstable Sheriff , but with the few people in transportation i've talked to and one guy who transferred down there , they seem to be ok with their boss.

everybody's got their problems. apparently Dedham Jail was invaded by DOC hacks who got shot down for trying to get a unit 4 retirement even though they never wore a uniform.

these career case workers would fly a desk for 32 years and put themselves in a blue shirt for one day ( on paper ) and retire with the better public safety pension.

they all stampeded over to the county jail and are now implementing DOC policy on the officers over there , not to mention back dooring the unit 4 pension via the sheriff's department.

frankly . i would still take the statie for a boss

I usually do not answer or respond to these types of message but I have to tell you it gets tiring hearing the same old rhetoric from people who think they know the truth and really know nothing.

Sheriff Cummings has done a great job as Sheriff he has treated his staff extremely well and I'm not saying that he or his administrators have not made mistakes they have. To ask where DeMello is now thats way out there and shows me how out of touch that person is. Fact :there where more people fired, more union grievances and more controversial newspaper articles written under DeMellos terms as Sheriff.

If Sheriff Cummings fired a Captain then it was for a damn good reason the E-Mail was probally the last straw in a long list of second chances and remember the Captains are protected by a union. I also believe according to rumor that this Captain was allowed to retirer

As far as the Ethics Commission reports in the Cape Cod Times; Do you really believe that a 22 year veteran Lt. of the Mass State Police that depends on the public to get elected would allow administrators to due what the Times alleged they did and condone it! I think not. He is not going to risk his reputation for anyone. Riddle me this, if the person lodging the complaint with the Ethics Board felt it really needed it to be looked into ? why then did they give a copy to the times at the same time they gave it to the ethics Board and if it was not a vendetta why only name one person when the article and I quote "several top officials". Obviously this was not done in good faith.

Sheriff Cummings is far from a coward he is a straight shooter who has done the job better than any other politician with no Law Enforcement background could of. Just ask around the other counties I'm sure you will find that Barnstable County is lucky to have what and whom they have. Everyone has made their mistakes him included but it sure does not make him a coward.
