State job with state benies. They really do not do much. The school is is a big discussion and it also looks good too that they are going to become a university. It is a decent job even though they are not armed.

They don’t do much? Aren’t you the same guy that posted Regis College can be a very busy place? No firearms is definitely bad idea especially in Framingham but they seem to be a fairly busy department.

I know the college administration has a zero tolerance policy for alcohol and drugs which means all found in possession face mandatory arrest or summons. Add the newly assigned on campus Chapter 90 duties and they can be as busy as they want. I would guess they are no different from any of the other State schools but not as busy as the bigger private schools.

May not be the crimes of the century but you definitely can’t say they “don’t do much.”

Arrest stats since 9/06 until today is 16 (not inclusive of crim aps), Id say thats pretty busy for college standards this size and most of those were during one semester. As for not doing much, its not the busiest place in the world but we do certianly have our fair share of police work. If anyone needs more specific info you can PM me, for obvious reasons im sure the administration doesnt want our stats/calls plastered all over a public website.

I believe it's the law of the land to plaster the stats on a public website...

ok, actually they colleges oly have to have the stats available, but have any of you noticed that if you do check the stats for most colleges/universities, the stats are often about 2-4 years old?

Considering where Framingham State is located, I can't imagine you guys NOT being busy. I know Framingham isn't exactly the gheto, but it's far from a bucolic wilderness either.

What kind of work schedule do you guys have? 5&2 or 4&2? Straight shifts or that First 1/2-Last 1/2 thing that I've never really been able to figure out?

16 arrests since last September ...? what charges ? Who do students fear more, the campus police or the Dean ? How much respect does the Dean give you Guys ? Why do they require applicants to have an LTC or FID if they either don't have enough respect or confidence in you to let you carry ? Does the current SSPO Academy teach firearms and mv chases ? Just curious

Yes

The Dean and fellow administrators want criminal charges for ALL drug and alcohol violations. 99% of these types of calls are handled by summoning the offender and filing in-house college charges with the Dean of Students. If you dump the beer or toss the weed you’re going to get an angry call in the a.m. inquiring about the incident. The arrests are for warrants, domestic violence, trespassing and disorderly.

Most if not all of the Officers would prefer just an in-house charge instead of adding criminal charges to a young kid just starting out in life.

Framingham State is a “dry” campus and even the over 21 crowd face in-house charges for alcohol.

The LTC requirement is another background investigation tool use to disqualify applicants. It will also help if and when we do get armed which if all goes well might not be to far off.

Go look down your nose somewhere else underdog!

There ain't nothin' wrong with goin' in-house on some things. Not a case of "can't" more a case of "easier". We don't BRING the charges, just write the reports and hope for the best.

Be honest, if your kid (I'm talking to all those who chant, "LOCK 'EM ALL UP!") were caught drinking by the locals, would YOU want the kid locked up? I was caught when I was a kid and having a criminal record for open container and minor in possession would not have bode well for me. I didn't drink at school much (commuter schools) but when I was a sophmore in H.S. I was caught and I'm sure many of our members were as well.

Most local cops will not lock up a kid for doing something stupid that could come back to haunt him later in life and any cop out there who feels that us campus cops should be tougher because the kids are in college are off base.

Then again, if you ARE the type who locks all the kids up for minor violations, you're going to end up with a repution as a real hard ass, and not too many people (even other cops) truly like a real hard ass. Also at some point, some kid is probably going to kick your ass. He may as well go to jail for a GOOD charge, right?

Do you still respect 95 percent of all campus police officers or are you totally full of shit ? Just curious.
