Someone recently recommended to me paying the $250 for the MPA legal defense fund....My department currently is still with the IBPO and I was just looking for some opinions on whether spending that money is: 1) necessary and 2) worth it??? I have only been on the job for two years so all this Union stuff if still kind of new to me. Any opinions or advice would be appreciated.

good luck with the IBPO lawyers..we had some issues that needed representation and each time they sent a different lawyer that needed to be updated on the case. If you ever get sued and brought to court, do you really want a different lawyer each time..someone that doesn't know your case and needs you to tell him what happened? I know I want someone that is fighting for me, not trying to save the IBPO money.
Think of it like house insurance..for short money it is good to have...the dues is less than an 8 hour detail..read some of their cases in the MPA Sentinal magazine..they seem to know what they are doing

The Legal Defense Fund is money well spent and you can speak directly with the attorney handling your case and you get positive results...unlike the IBPO who are joke! Wonder why all the locals are pulling out.

If you can find an IBPO attorney ... you should immediatly be promoted to detective. Pay the $250.
