Does anyone have any practical knowledge or experience with law enforcement grants? The short version is that I am currently taking a grant writing class as part of my Master’s program. It’s a hands on class where we actually have to write and submit a grant proposal. And yes, I have already used the search function. I am looking for additional information and perspectives.
My plan was to write a grant that would be useful to the department, such as to fund a K9 unit or a technology upgrade. The problem is that the only funding I have been able to locate is for research or programs (i.e. domestic violence, re-integration, drug courts). I’ve searched through the DOJ and Homeland Security websites without any success. I don’t know if I’m looking in the wrong place or maybe I am just SOL. Any help in getting started in the right direction would be appreciated.

Just dont get discouraged if you keep applying and nothing happens, the whole process can take up to a year and a half just to see if you eligible. But anyways check out: http://www.policeone.com/grants/...PoliceOne's Police Grants Section is an online tool designed to keep Law Enforcement informed of the availability of grants that can be used to fund technology projects, product purchases, programs or research at their agency... This is where I find grants to apply to, they have a great listing.
