Detectives in London are investigating the latest in the series of shootings which has plagued London in the past several weeks. A 15 year old boy was shot in his bedroom by suspects who forced their way into the youth's apartment. Police do not believe it was random. Over the past weeks several youths have been gunned down on the streets, some in public areas before large groups of people. It seems to be gang violence according to observers. The crimes are of concern especially since British police themselves are not armed on routine patrol. in the meantime authorities in Ireland are investigating a rising number of gun involved crimes in that country. Bank and post office robberies by armed gangs of outlaws have resulted in shootouts, chases and terror in Dublin and other communities of the Emerald Isle. Here, like in England, police do not carry weapons on routine patrol. In recent times the police have called in heavily armed Irish military units to escort money and for other security details.

The increase of guns in London is now having an effect on high society. A portion of an IRISH INDEPENDENT story is shown below:
HE is Britain's 'Party Prince'.
But Prince Harry, third in line to the throne, found himself a bit too close to trouble at a Mayfair night club in the early hours of yesterday.
Worried royal security guards rushed the prince from the club as a brawl broke out inside.
Earlier, the 22-year-old had enjoyed a $75 rum and vodka cocktail and a chat with Madonna, who was there with her husband Guy Richie.
The trouble appears to have started at about 2.30am when a fight broke out on the dance floor of the trendy Mahiki club.
This mixture of celebrity, excessive alcohol and bad behaviour, is what the glamourous central London nightclubs are famed for.
But there is a more sinister and deadly threat facing some of the country's best known and most exclusive night spots - although not Mahiki.
In the past week, London police received intelligence that criminals were preparing to import their gun culture into up to eight nightclubs in the City of Westminster which encompasses Soho, Mayfair and The Strand.
While detectives are keeping details of the plot secret, it is understood to involve bringing guns into the clubs and threatening people inside.
Officers were so concerned about the alleged plot that they asked the clubs, that included celebrity haunts Movida, Pangaea, Crystal and Chinawhite, to close.
The doors have remained shut since Monday.
A police spokeswoman confirmed: "Following intelligence received, we contacted representatives of eight nightclubs in Westminster on Monday who volunteered to close for business."
However, last night the police gave the clubs the go-head to start trading again.
