Bruins, What do they need?

Can any hockey nuts chime in on this one? I say a new coach, they have some talent, it just seems they cant put it all together and get it going.
Aside from being the creepiest looking coach in the league I think the team has tuned him out.

They need a new owner......But, people keep going to the games, paying WAY TOO MUCH money to watch a rotten team, why would he sell??? The team needs a leader on the ice, and a solid net minder. After that they can build their team around that. They need to take some chances and spend some serious money on quality players.

Old Bruins Thread:

They need players and coaches like they had in the 60s and 70s

Definitely new owners...They've been screwing Boston hockey fans since the day they took over. Their ultimate goal is the finances, whereas fans want a Stanley Cup.

New management- poor trades and signings (or lack thereof) are what have failed this team. I would be most worried that you see talent on the team now, because they will likely be in Edmonton or Florida by season's end

They need to come to CT...and play like Slapshot...(can you tell I haven't followed them this year at all??)

New ownership, but since that won't happen....how about a coach that doesn't look like Hitler!!!

at least we have the Lowell Loch Monsters!

Monarchs and Lock Monsters or Providence Broons - always an action packed fight filled, slugfest.

How about just changing hockey all together? I would like to see hockey go back to the way it was in the 70's and 80's. What I mean is, go back to making the rinks smaller. They have made the rinks much bigger over the years to "open up the ice" and allow players to skate. That eliminates and lot of the hitting and open ice checks that used to occur. How about making goalies fair game again? Anyone remember when the goalie played the puck behind the net etc. he could be hit??? I could go on and on, but if you watch old bruins games, you will see what I mean. Eliminate all these pussy penalties in front of the net and these stupid holding penalties. Put the physical back into the game. What ever happened to the "CHECKING LINE???" I would love to see a line with big bruts on the ice. Remember players like O'Reilly, Millbury, Byers, Nilan, Neely? That would make me watch again. By the way, this is coming from someone who played hockey my whole life, played Division 1A state finals at the garden etc. We want more fights.....

The old style of play was more exciting. Now fighting usually results in a game misconduct. I would like to see new management / ownership and have thought that has hurt the team for the past 10 years. Even when they suck I am still a die hard. Same with the Sox.

what has really upset me as of late, is when the bruins take a cheapshot, (high stick, hit from behind, etc), the bruins don't fight for their own players. Never would have happened when neely played.

after being a diehard fan for over 30 years I have been slowly fading away from the sport. Here's my opinion.

1.too many teams not enough talent.
2.the physical part of the game has been greatly curtailed.
3.they think by opening up the game with more scoring they'll increase the fan base. How exciting is a 13-11 all-star game? Granted, you get to see all the stars in one place, but I'd rather see a tight checking physical game any day.
4.Penalty shots, though rare, were exciting. The shootout sucks.
5. Are there any true rivalries left?

I think by trying to expand the game (and fan base) they may have lost a lot of true fans.

I used to watch the bruins one or two times a week.. and I loved watching Detriot vs Colorado or Dallas.. then they had that year without any hockey. Now I'll be the first to admit I like basketball better (no comment on the Celtics), but I dont really miss it. I catch a few games now and then and I have no clue who is on what team anymore. I think that whole lockout year really killed hockey -- in my mind.

As far as the Bruins.. I havent kept up to date, but it seems every good player they had pre-lockout is on a new team now.
