A South Korean study reported today in THE AUSTRALIAN says convicted criminals serving time in jail are happier and better off financially than the average police officer. The study, conducted by the Korean Institute of Criminal Justice, says that 80% of the 109 criminals surveyed said they felt "okay," " satisfied", or "very satisfied" with their positions while only 65% of the police officers surveyed indicated they felt the same. The study showed the criminals surveyed made an average of 5,500 Australian dollars more per month than the average police officer in South Korea. The criminals, according to the report, were involved in the Korean syndicate which operates prostitution, gambling and is making inroads in white collar crime.
