I thought something was on sale.

I thought some young Cadet was going to ask where is Tisbury?

Anyone know if they help you out with getting housing? Or what the deal is with that?

Thanks,
Scott

Scott the p.d won't help. I went to the Chamber of Commerce and they had listings for more affordable housing that they only give out to people who are working there for the summer. This is going back 10 years, but my guess is that they still probably do it. Good luck, its fucking exspensive over there.

do these summer jobs offer any kind of health insurance. i would like to work as a summer police officer somewhere just leaving my current job is kind of a big risk since i will have nothing to come back to.

Posted by: Macop

No benefits at all, other than in the line of duty.

What is the MAX age requirement and are there any expiration dates on the Academy graduation requirement?

Lets see if I can answer some of your questions:

1. Whats the pay like?

I believe the starting pay for a summer special officer is somewhere around $13-$14/hour with NO benefits.

2. Are they armed?

Yes, Special Officers are armed with a glock 22

3. Overtime/details available?

Yes, overtime and details are available only if fulltimers don't want them.

4. Are there any living arrangements offered?

The PD itself doesn't offer housing, but take a look a MVTimes.com or MVGazette.com

5. Hows the working conditions....the dept.......other officers?

Working conditions = tourist resort in the summer
Department = 13 fulltime officers: (1 Chief, 2 Sergeants, 1 detective, 9 patrolman, and numerous special officers/traffic officers)
Other Officers?? Just like any other department

Tisbury is part of Vinyard Haven, right? LMAO

I think it's on Nantucket or Cuttyhunk or it's part of Plum Island. I know it's got lots of water near it.

Posted by: EchoUnit

Yes, Tisbury and Vineyard Haven are the same thing... Vineyard Haven is considered the downtown area of Tisbury. And yes Tisbury is on Martha's Vineyard Island.

Thanks for the info Echo..

if housing is a major issue for you (which it may be), Nantucket's summer special program may be better for you (even though they dont carry).

Posted by: Macop

The Vineyard is a great time, I had tons of fun when I was there. Your best bet is to contact the chamber of commerce for the most affordable housing, like I said they will hold the good stuff for people going there for work.

Echo unit, you dont by any chance work with R.Krauss?
