The Australian Press reports today that sources inside the Iraqi government say leaders of the death squads in Baghdad have already left the city and fled to Iran. The AUSTRALIAN said the leaders were told well in advance that the U.S. would be stepping up action within the city of Baghdad and so they left for Iran to wait out the American forces. The reports said the leaders of the extreme group, including Abu Deraa, got their information from sources near the top of the Iraqi government who are seeking self-preservation. Many followers, however, remain in the area to fight the beefed up troops.
