What is this agency like?, what kind of working conditions, is it only highway patrol, and do they have road details, like in MA?

I've spent lots of time in SC and know that the agency is basically Highway Patrol. Regular local police patrol is done by police or sheriffs. HP does do backups. Criminal investigations are done by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, (SLED), which is a division of their AG's office.

I think they make low low $$ and no details, no unions. But you have a take home car while collecting food stamps.
I have to- If you look on the SCHP website- I states "our troopers carry pistols and wear bulletproof vests" As opposed to what?
Oh, I forgot that north carolina has an all volunteer militia that patrols unarmed via horseback.
The legislature finally made appropriation to fund the new technological Bulletproof vest, replacing that heavy and cumbersome chainmeal.
They realized that swords were a thing of the past not the future.
Trooper jjessup is pissed, they have now taken down his long standing academy record for quickest loaded and shot bow and arrow load.
My family tree goes in a circle... Alright I went too far.. Feel free to ticket me at will when and If I ever drive to FLA. When the CJ field in MA frustrated you, feel free to insert your favorite redneck joke. Thank god for the Mason/Dixon.
